INDY NXT TAKES ON THE OVALS - MICHAEL D'ORLANDO ONLY SCHEDULED FOR SEASON FINALE AT NASHVILLE DUE TO BUDGET LIMITATIONS

Charlotte, NC (June 10, 2024) – As another round of the Indy NXT by Firestone series gears up for this weekend at Iowa Speedway, Michael d’Orlando will watch the action of his peers from the sidelines, for the third race event in row, as he continues to work tirelessly to build additional partnerships and sponsorships to get back in the seat.  d’Orlando is currently finalizing the details with his partners at Flatrock Motor Club and Rising Star Racing to be back on track for the season finale in their home state, at the oval circuit of Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, TN this September. However the 22-year-old Charlotte, NC resident, and 2022 USF2000 series Champion, is eager to get back on track sooner rather than later to garner some valuable experience, especially since three of the four remaining race events prior to Nashville will also be on oval circuits.

“I was able to be attend the event at Laguna Seca (Monterey, CA) a couple weeks ago as a spectator and super proud to be able to support my brother Nick as he ran up front in the Radical Cup North America series with Graham Rahal Performance, but it was my first event since 2019 that I was watching from the grandstands while the rest of my peers and competitors were battling it out on track.  It’s the most difficult feeling and position for a driver but for me I feel it was even harder to digest since we have really showed potential to battle for podium positions at the first few events in Indy NXT this year.  We are all excited to be working with Flatrock Motor Club for Nashville and it has been a wonderful experience to partner with them since our debut in Detroit.  As a competitor at this level, it’s very difficult to sit on the sidelines and I would really love to get back in the #3 Andretti Cape Indy NXT machine sooner.” explains d’Orlando.

“My previous experiences on an oval circuit were really positive for me.  Teaming with Cape Motorsports, I finished fourth in my first oval race in the Freedom 75 at the Carb Nite Classic at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in 2020, and then we dominated with back-to-back victories with sweeps at both the 2021 and the 2022 Freedom 75.  I was strong again for the 2023 Freedom 90 with a top-6 after a minor issue in qualifying, so I feel like I’ve had a real shot every time. I would really love to get back in the seat for any of the oval events in Indy NXT at Iowa, St Louis or Milwaukee leading up to the season finale with Flatrock in Nashville.
